The Proxy Advisor industry has gained enormous influence within the corporate governance and other operations of public companies. H.R. 4015 seeks to mitigate and balance the influence of proxy advisors by subjecting them to SEC registration and oversight. This legislation aims to improve the quality of proxy advisory firms; enhance the protection of investors; and foster accountability, transparency, responsiveness and competition in the proxy advisory firm industry.
