Description: In response to Senators Crapo and Brown’s request for proposals that foster economic growth the Center submitted a letter on April 14 that included 4 broad recommendations among numerous specific policy suggestions. The recommendations included proposals to:
- Conduct a cumulative impact study assessing the impact of the Dodd-Frank Act, Basel accords and other financial regulations on the U.S. economy
- Promote accountability at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau
- Rein in the Financial Stability Oversight Council
- Facilitate capital formation
Other considerations included tax reform, proposals impacting retirement savings, FinTech, improving bank examination process, credit value adjustment, and consumer access to financial information and credit monitoring.
