Description: In response to Senators Crapo and Brown’s request for proposals that foster economic growth the Center submitted a letter on April 14 that included 4 broad recommendations among numerous specific policy suggestions. The recommendations included proposals to:

  1. Conduct a cumulative impact study assessing the impact of the Dodd-Frank Act, Basel accords and other financial regulations on the U.S. economy
  2. Promote accountability at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau
  3. Rein in the Financial Stability Oversight Council
  4. Facilitate capital formation

Other considerations included tax reform, proposals impacting retirement savings, FinTech, improving bank examination process, credit value adjustment, and consumer access to financial information and credit monitoring.
