Description: Strong, clear, and predictable consumer protection policy is an important and necessary component of efficient capital markets. The CCMC believes that clear rules of the road given prospectively are important for both businesses and their customers. That is why we have expressed concerns in the past to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (the “Bureau”) and almost every financial services regulator about a regulation-by-enforcement approach that deprives all stakeholders of the ability to participate meaningfully in the regulatory process, and why we have encouraged the Bureau and other regulators to implement tools that bring clarity to the markets they regulate.
